What to Expect

Pre-Service Planning

You should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before service to get familiar with our facility. Our morning worship services begin at 8:30 and 11 am. Both services provide the same message, music, and structure. Feel free to choose whichever service best fits you and your family! At 10 am, we offer a variety of Sunday School classes, designed to teach the Bible to all ages and members of the family.

Sunday Services

At Emmanuel Baptist, you can expect our services to honor Christ, and uplift your spirit. Worship is not about pleasing man, it is about pleasing Jesus Christ! Throughout our service, you will hear dynamic, God honoring music from the choir, specials, and congregation; as well as a Biblical and dynamic message from our pastor. Emmanuel is filled with imperfect people, worshiping a perfect Savior! We don't have it all together, and don't expect you to either! We just want to uplift the name of Jesus, and want you to feel at home!

Childcare

From the time you arrive at Emmanuel, we want you to feel right at home. We have a safe nursery during both morning services for infant through three years old. They are staffed with trained and qualified workers, who want to make your experience the best it can be! We also have a children's church during the second morning service for ages 4 years through 5th grade. They can expect to sing awesome, fun, and Biblical songs; as well as hear a message from Gods Word!

Wednesday Services

Wednesday night is always a favorite here at EBC. In the sanctuary, we have a time of corporate and individual prayer. We also hear a Bible based message from our Pastor.

Nursery is provided for young children birth through 3 years of age.

Wednesday's is also a time set aside for your children 4 years through 6th grade to be taught the Word of God, in a fun and personal way.

Our youth 7th through 12th grade have their own service that also takes place at 6:30. They can enjoy time to hang out with friends, play games, and hear a message from our Youth Pastor, Tim.

Our desire at Emmanuel is to come along side of you as a parent, and help your child grow in the Lord. We want to see each child that comes through the doors of EBC, go out and make a difference for Christ!

Emmanuel Baptist Church exists to point to Jesus and love people. Emmanuel in the Bible means "'God with Us". We seek to do our best to always make the Holy Spirit feel welcome on our campus. We also seek to do our best to make you feel welcome and right at home! We daily seek to "do all to the glory of God".

Church History

Around April 15, 1942, Conover Baptist Church was organized by Mr. Joe Snipe who used the Old Yount Mill village to start a Sunday School. Rev J.E. Crump was asked to come and hold a revival. After a number of people were saved and keen interest was manifested, plans were implemented to organize a church. Due to large attendance, land was purchased on the Old Airport Road and was officially named Conover Baptist Church. Although the church was built at the beginning of WWII, it grew under the leadership of Rev J.E. Crump. In mid-1944, Rev Crump resigned to go into full-time evangelism. Rev Paul Benfield was asked to fill the pulpit until a pastor could be secured. Under his leadership, the church continued to grow and many improvements were made. In early 1950, Rev Benfield resigned to enter college, Rev J.D. Lynn filled the pulpit and at that time the name was changed to First Baptist Church. In late 1958, Rev Lynn resigned and Rev Wilburn J. Edmondson was asked to fill in. When Rev Edmondson submitted his resignation, the church would not accept it and he accepted the call to remain as pastor on April 19, 1959. After 15 years at the old location, there was a need for more space. Property was purchased on Emmanuel Church Road and the name of the church was changed to Emmanuel Baptist Church. In 1996, Pastor Lonnie Ray was called to Emmanuel Baptist Church. Around 2000, the Sunday School wing was built. In 2005, Pastor Brian Correll became the current pastor and under his leadership the church continues to grow and prosper. …all to the glory of God!
